7. Be yourself.Do not feel that you need to change to impress other people. Keep your self repect and integrity intact.
8. Learn from your own experience and those of others, especially those who have succeeded in getting to where you would like to be.
9. Nurture a strength of spirit to shield you when your plans go wrong as they probably will do from time to time. But do not build problems up in your mind to appear worse than they are.Things often seem worse when you are tired or feeling down.
10. Although self discipline is absolutely necessary in order to achieve your ambitions and goals you must be gentle with yourself at the same time.Treat yourself well and you will find it easier to treat others well.
11. You are a child of the universe created to live the best life that you can. You have a right to be here, and have a duty to live the very best life you can not just for yourself but for your family and friends too.
12. Do not worry! Instead clarify your problem. Break it down into small pieces and deal with it that way. Never hide from problems. that will only make things worse.
13. At the end of the day we are all striving for similar outcomes in our lives. So,whatever your aspirations,in the noisy

Aging begins as soon as you are born. Operations of the human body begin to age as an infant and occur throughout your whole entire life. Are you like me, and just wish the balloon boy, Falcon Heene and his family will be stuffed into a manmade flying saucer and sent up, up and away? Earlier today there was a huge deal involving the boy’s father Richard Heene who said he’d be having a press conference where there’d be a ‘big announcement.’ That press conference turned out to be a ‘big bust’ when Heene emerged from his house, placed a box on his front porch, and invited the fools we called the media camping outside his house to leave their written questions. “I want your questions in the box,” he said. “I’ll get right back to you. Okay?” Huh? What a jerk. Speculation is now rampant the balloon boy story is full of hot air, although Dad adamantly denies his family’s ordeal was a publicity stunt calling the accusation, “extremely pathetic.” Keep in mind this response comes from a man who appeared in ABC's highly respected reality show “Wife Swap.”

The story broke Thursday, October 15 about a runaway helium balloon in Colorado. It took off like a supersonic jet after the boy’s parents told an emergency dispatcher they believed the inflatable balloon was carrying their six-year old son. Of course the media jumped at the titanic fish they hooked, and set about exploiting it in hopes of captivating the nation. Cable networks switched from President Obama’s town hall meeting in New Orleans to follow the balloon that was soaring uncontrollably in the air. Experts crawled out of their cubbyholes to offer confusing theories regarding the weight ratio to helium aspect. Would the endangered child survive? Could law-enforcement officials use their entire technological wherewithal to save him? Soon all the intense coverage and unfounded fear stirred up that the boy was possibly adrift and was somewhere in oblivion deflated when Falcon was found hiding in the attic of his home. And journalism once again was nowhere to be found.

Personally, I think the boy’s parents need to be forced to watch the movie, ‘Glitter’ uninterrupted a hundred times for their stupidity, then forced to pay whatever cost taxpayers incurred for this shameful 15 minutes of fame. Thankfully the boy was unharmed, but still one question begs to be answered. What’s up with people? They are addicted to a camera like a junkie is to drugs, willing to sell their souls even at the expense of embarrassing the crap out of their own kids? Hopefully after all is said and done someone hauls both parents off to Child Care services.

Though due to the global warming affect there has been many seasonal alterations, but the months of Nov Jan are considered to be the colder months of the world especially in the northern hemisphere.
Global warming is an issue that requires immediate action.

So, Pariksit Maharaja now understands that the ultimate solution to the pangs of material existence is the chanting of the Holy Names. So, as far as our becoming Krishna conscious is concerned; we need to be anxiety about the suffering of the souls in this material world and impelled by that anxiety we need to always be thinking of how to get people to chant and hear about Krishna. In other words that is our preaching goal. And in order to achieve this we have to do the needful (utility is the principle). Our goal is not to get people to dress like us, nor to have haircuts like us, nor to talk like us, nor have Gopi dots on their forhead, but to simply come to the point of chanting the names of Krishna purely. In Kali Yuga all other practices are meant to bring people to that point.

Prabhupada understood this perfectly in his strategy. Too often we confuse the means with the end or goal. And in helping people come to the point of chanting purely, to be successful we have to be tolerant, understanding, compassionate, empathic, loving, accepting, etc. And all these qualities that we need to manifest have to come from the heart, they can not be a show. That's a pretty tall order, isn't it? How to do it? Of course we have our sadhana. We also have our sadhu sanga (association with pure devotees the best of whom is Srila Prabhupada).

It really helps to see that other than spiritual desires and actions, all other actions, desires, emotions (that we have and others have) are tragic expressions of the original desire or need to love and please Krishna and His associates. Tragic in the sense that these desires or needs will never be fully satisfied and our search for fulfillment of them will be endless. I said that I would write about overcoming old age today, but I never got to it. I will try tomorrow as this topic is quite lengthy and involves the greater topic of how we deny reality in the name of external spirituality.

I mentioned that I would write about living longer in the present body. In order to understand this topic one has to understand the larger topic of how the material energy affects the bodies and minds of devotees whether or not they are aware of it or even in denial of it.

If we had the siddhis that yogis have such as laghima (become light enough to float on a sunbeam) or mahima (becoming very big or heavy-and I am not talking about getting fat), or prapti (being able to reach out and grab something from a distant locale) we could definitely ignore certain aspects of the material nature.

Some thoughts on one of the biggest news stories this past week. It was no surprise two amendments that could create a government-run public option were turned down in the Finance Committee. Three Democrats and ten Republicans voted nay. The committee chairman, Sen. Max Baucus, a democrat from Montana voted against both of the amendments, starting he feared a bill including the public option couldn’t get the required 60 votes needed for passage by the full Senate. News flash, what’s to reform if there isn’t a public option, or some kind of single payer option?

Unless you’ve been in a coma the past year President Obama’s promised to reform healthcare. In doing so every poor, middleclass, and working class American could conceivably be brought into the system. Unfortunately he, and some of the more progressive democrats have lit a fire under some of the lunatics running the asylum. It seems every opponent out there including tea baggers, big Pharma, and conservative politicians are on the airwaves, YouTube and television with their endless babbling about socialized this, and socialized that. Around 50 million people are uninsured in the United States. Some opt out of health insurance voluntarily for various reasons. For most their employer won’t offer coverage, while others do, but at an outrageous cost. Lots of folks are unemployed and have no access to reasonable preventative care. It’s the people who want it, but just can’t afford it the GOP and the so-called ‘blue dog’ democrats are telling to drop dead, bribed by the medical and insurance industry to delay, manipulate, or vote down the reform bills.

While Obama has signaled he could pass on an ineffective bill in favor of another alternative do you know what would be a true sign of his leadership? If he vetoes any health care legislation that reaches the White House that does not include the public option, or single payer plan. While we definitely have the ability to change a system that’s currently on life support, it’s clear we don’t have the leaders to get the job done. Instead whoever screams the loudest overpowers all other logic. True, decent health care is not guaranteed by the Constitution, but neither is clean water. I doubt seriously there’s many that wouldn’t insist their drinking water not contain raw sewage. This country’s founders built a clever system of checks and balances to ensure that no government entity, special interest group, or corporation could use their size or power to dictate, or monopolize policy to serve their interest only. But that’s exactly what seems to continually happen. Forget about bipartisan cooperation. It will never happen. Let’s face the facts people; the politicians, Big Pharma, and the health care industry got theirs and that all that manners.

We all get stuck in patterns; many of us are reliving something over and over that has been with us since childhood. Some patterns can feel as if we are in some kind of nightmarish prison and unable to leave. We'll watch ourselves getting up at 3AM and eating leftover cake or cookies night after night (wait - that's not JUST me, right?), ending up in the same relationships over and over - hoping each time will be different, ending up in the same kinds of jobs or money situations over and over, and not having a clue on how to break the pattern and step into a new (and better) one.

I have repeatedly fallen back into old patterns throughout my life. This is why I feel perfectly qualified to bring this to your attention today, as I am a bonified expert in falling down and getting back up again. I was inspired to write about this now because I've just recently gotten up again, and I'm gaining a lot of awareness on this that I wanted to share with you.

Of course I can only speak from my experience here, but I've found there are 5 key elements to breaking old habits and patterns that are no longer serving you.

1. Commitment

First and foremost, you have to be committed. If you go into any change half-heartedly, the chances of success are slim. When you want to do something differently in your life, and you've beat your head up against the wall for the last time and DECIDE right then that you are ready to commit and end the struggle - this is the first and most essential ingredient. When you know that you'll do what it takes, you have the fuel you need to begin your journey.

2. Awareness

Once you're committed, you have to turn up that awareness a notch or two. Meaning, that when you are breaking a pattern, no matter how committed you are at some point you will feel pulled back into your old pattern. This is the most important time to "observe" what you're doing. Watch yourself - notice what's happening. If you're trying to say, exercise daily - you'll get super committed and then a few days in your brain will try to give you all kinds of reasons why you can't exercise today. Instead of buying into that - notice what sets you off. Notice when it feels difficult - but don't let it take you out of the game.


3. Contemplation

This is what you do with that awareness. Remember, you must contemplate what you want to create, not what you want to avoid. When you are contemplating, you can ask yourself questions like "how is this new habit serving me?" "How can I make this easy?" And "How do I feel when I've done this, and what impact is this having on my life?" It's really hard to lose your momentum completely when you're asking yourself questions like this.

4. Support

Let's face it - it can be much easier making changes with a strong support system. A support system consists of two main categories. A personal support system is first. This is your friends, the loved ones in your life. Keep in mind that just because someone is a friend or family member doesn't mean they're a part of your support system.

These are the people that support who you really are and what you're up to. Many of us feel lucky when we find one person who does this. If you take having a support system seriously, you may need to get out and make some new friends. When you are thinking about your support system, ask yourself these questions:

1. Can I fully share my visions and dreams with this person and have them be supportive, and tell me I can do it?

2. When I'm having a bad day can I trust this person to hold space for that and offer what I ask for? (asking is important - never assume someone knows what you need. If you do ask, can this person be there in this way?)

3. Is this person a person who is primarily positive or primarily negative?

In the spirit of "you attract that which you are", are these things true for you if someone were to ask them of you? This is your first step, to be a great support system for others.

When you're doing a lot of change, you're going to have your ups and downs. When you have someone that even says "hey, I believe in you" - that can help lift you up when you really need it.

The other kind of support is education, classes, coaches, workshops, and programs. It's things like this that keep your expanding, growing, and having some kind of professional guidance to help you stretch yourself. I'm always reading books, taking courses, hiring people to work with me and because of that I'm not only always receiving new information, but brilliant techniques to help me apply it into my life. In fact, most successful people are nearly always working with a coach of some kind.

Most of the time we're working with the same stuff from yesterday, and it's those tools, beliefs, and methods that are producing your current result. Remember the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

5. Structure

Make a plan, write it down and be SPECIFIC. This will help you so much, you don't have to waste time figuring out what to do and trying to remember. When we're trying to form new habits and let go of old ones, being very clear on what to do is imperative. The best way to be very clear is to write down what you want to do, and put it in a place you can see it!

You can do this. You have all the power inside of you at any moment. Today is a new day, you have a new chance. You know more today, you're wiser and have more experience. Most of all, you deserve nothing but the best!
